If you have regular night shifts, problems will arise in your life that many other people will never be bothered by. These annoying moments are very recognizable if you often work at night.

10 moments

1. It is almost impossible to sleep during the day

Even when you turn your phone off, turning off the sound of lawn mowers, leaf blowers and children playing is not that simple.

2. You miss a lot of 'normal' things, unless you want to sacrifice more sleep

It can be difficult to feel connected to the rest of the world when you work at night. You have probably had to cancel some nice things because you cannot miss your 'day' rest.

3. Maintaining relationships requires a lot of effort

Because you work such different hours, it is not really possible to meet for a dinner or a drink to catch up.

4. Staying awake during work is a struggle

Your brain sends signals to your body that you should sleep at night and be awake during the day. As a result, it can feel like you can fall asleep at any time.

5. If you want to do something other than staying in bed on your days off, you need to plan your sleep schedule strategically.

Do you want to do something and stay awake during the day to sleep at night, or stick to your sleep schedule and do you stay awake at night without having anything to do?

6. The first night shift back after a few days off is terrible

Your body likes to sleep at night, so after a few nights of 'normal' sleep it is even harder than normal to stay awake for a whole shift. < / p>

7. Driving home after a hard shift can be dangerous

Research has shown that tired driving is almost as dangerous as driving under the influence of alcohol.

8. Finding the perfect caffeine intake is basically science

If you don't drink enough caffeine, you will be slow and tired throughout your shift. If you drink too much there is a chance that when you get home, you will no longer be able to sleep.

9. You may experience health problems later

If you try to stay awake, you are likely to switch to energy drinks and sugary snacks or readily available fast foods. Add that on top of insufficient sleep and you quickly experience annoying problems. According to the National Sleep Foundation, employees who often work night shifts have an increased risk of certain diseases such as metabolic problems, cardiovascular diseases, stomach and intestinal problems or obesity in the long term.

10. People just don't understand how hard it really is

There are people who have stayed up all night once and think they know what it's like to work a night shift. Defending yourself is a lost battle, so you often just agree with them.
