Now that most of us have plenty of time, you can finally start with the things that have been on your to-do list for some time. Like making your wardrobe spring proof, for example. How? With the tips below!
Not long ago, the fashion world was busy with the concept of a 'capsule wardrobe'. A kind of compact wardrobe that contains only a minimum of items that all fit together perfectly.
A Texas fashion lover, Caroline Rector, was fed up with the chaos in her closet. She minimized her clothes to just 37 items. She recorded this process and then posted it on her website Unfancy. Since then, many people have been paying attention to her method. It seems to be the solution to create more overview, so that you deal with your clothing more consciously and sustainably.
1. Minimize your closet You don't need a specific number, but focus on a maximum of 50 items. Make the most of your closet and make three piles. Stack one will have the items you like to wear, stack two will contain the maybe's and seasonal garments (store them away) and stack three will have the no go's.
2. Think of it as a game While minimizing your closet, you're bound to encounter a few frustrations along the way. But treat the method like a game. Which items make you happiest and really always wear? Put on a music and make it fun for yourself.
3. Start with a simple clear-out It may help to limit your wardrobe to a certain number at first. After a while, this may no longer help you. Give yourself the freedom, because you will learn a lot from this.
4. Don't buy new clothes right away First give yourself space to get used to your 'smaller' wardrobe. Look at it for a week or a month so you can feel it before you buy something new instead.
