At the moment we are in a worldwide complex situation that creates the necessary stress. That is already difficult for an adult to process, let alone for your children. It is sometimes difficult to control the emotions. When you cry as a parent, you may have a tendency to hide it from your children to protect them from your grief. Is this sensible, or could it be good for them to see their parents crying?
Expressing your feelings
According to professional counselor Tammy Lewis Wilborn, it is good for children to help their parents see crying in response to certain situations. She says normalizing feelings is good for raising emotionally intelligent kids. In this way they also learn to deal with their own feelings better and they understand that other people also become sad.
It will be okay
Child psychologist Jillian Roberts indicated that children can get confused and that it is therefore important to explain to your children that everything will be fine. So if you cry for your kids, you better reassure them. Try to estimate how much information they can handle, so don't tell them why you're crying if you think they're too young to understand.
