RelaxLate summer on Coromandel
Enjoy the late summer sun on the empty beaches of the Coromandel peninsula. At 90 km from Auckland you will find a place with the best weather in all of New Zealand. In summer this is a popular holiday destination among locals, but if you go in October you will discover the island without this crowds. If it does cool down, head to the Lost Spring natural spa, or dig your own thermal bath on Hot Water Beach to warm up.© Offered by Pijper Publishing BV Relaxing, city trips and culture in October: where should you go?
Without the hordes of people, Coromandel is also a perfect destination to completely unwind. It has many small towns with beautiful galleries filled with art and typography. An impressive mountain ridge, decorated with cliffs and golden coasts, invites you to get in the car and discover everything at your leisure. But even when you need some exercise there is plenty to do here. Take for example the Hauraki Rail Trail Cycleway, walk to the top of Pinnacles or kayak to the beautiful Cathedral Cove. Or you can of course relax in a cozy café on the coast and enjoy the view.

City tripEnjoying falling leaves in New York
Since New York never sleeps, there is also no bad time to visit the city. The Big Apple is always exciting, busy and lively. The shops and museums can always be visited, no matter how bad the weather is. But the cool fall makes the streets more pleasant while the temperature is not too low yet. The leaves on the trees give the city extra color and, combined with the low autumn sun, create a beautiful glow.
Incidentally, October is also a very good time to take a NYC walking tour. to do. Among the many thematic topics include the spirits of Upper West Side and the gargoyles of Manhattan.
Travel plan: Make sure you have about five days in New York. Add another five days to see more of the area. You travel by train from NYC to Syracuse in 5.5 hours.
Good to know: New York's open house weekend is held in October - a good chance to take a look behind the normally closed doors of the city.
Other months: Nov-Feb - cold, possibly snow; March-May - warmer, with a chance of rain; June-Aug - warm; sept-oct- mild to fresh© Offered by Pijper Publishing BV Relaxing, city trips and culture in October: where do you have to go?
CultureDiscover cool ruins and warm seas in the Peloponnese
The Peloponnese is the largest peninsula in Greece. But contrary to what you might think, you don't necessarily have to pay a visit in the late season. Simply because not many people have discovered it yet. The island has beautiful nature reserves, attractive mountains and even the original Arcadia, but only a fraction of the travelers who visit Greece come to the Peloponnese. In October there are even fewer people, so it feels like you have the island to yourself. The temperature is still around a fine 22 degrees Celsius.
Absolute recommendations are Olympia, where the Olympic Games were held for 1,000 years; the beautiful Citadel of Mycenae and the Byzantine Monemvasia. The wilder Mani Peninsula offers excellent hiking trails.
Itinerary: Go from Athens to the Peloponnese via the ancient Corinth and visit Epidaurus and Nafplio. This is a perfect planning for a trip of a few days. If you have more time, head south and visit Monemvasia and the Mani. Then head back north via the west coast and Olympia.
Good to know: From Athens to Corinth it is an 85 km drive. Buses, trains and ferries travel between Athens and Peloponnese.
Other months: Nov-March - cold; Apr-May - warmer and everything is in bloom; June-Aug - hot and busy; Sept-Oct - warm but much quieter
