It may not have a happy ending, but Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet is one of the most iconic romances of all time. Therefore, especially for Valentine's Day, Airbnb allows one enamored couple to spend the night in Julia's house for free; Casa di Giulietta.
The 13th century mansion Casa di Giulietta is in Verona, the Italian city where the story takes place, and is seen as the inspiration for Julia's fictional home. For example, the house has a balcony that became known through the famous declaration of love by the female protagonist.© Offered by Lonely Planet Stay with your loved one at the home of Shakespeare's Julia
Together with an Italian architect, Airbnb has transformed the age-old building into an extravagant stay especially for the modern Romeo and Julia. The couple is given a personal butler and is treated to a romantic candlelight dinner. The dining room is luxuriously decorated with crystal, candles and flowers and the dinner is provided by star chef Giancarlo Perbellini. The night is also spent in style, namely in the original bed "Letto di Giulietta" used in Zeffirelli's 1960s classic; "Romeo and Juliet".How can you participate?
Casa di Giulietta receives thousands of letters from all over the world every year. This tradition has earned Verona the nickname "the city of love." The letters are answered by volunteers from Juliet’s Club. To win a night at Julia's House, send a letter to Julia in which you share your own love story and explain why you and your partner are the perfect guests. Letters can be submitted until 3 February 2020 at airbnb.nl/juliet.
